The Economy, Stupid. (DON'T FORGET HEALTHCARE)

The sign went up early, within the first couple of days, as soon as somebody could go to the store and get the dry erase board to write it on.

I wanted to say something concise that people would remember. I wrote:

Change vs. more of the same
The economy, stupid
Don't forget healthcare

I hung it on a post near my desk. It was not any big deal, just a reminder of what we were about. It had two essential elements: It was simple and it was self-effacing. I was trying to say: "Let's don't be too clever here, don't come down here thinking we're too smart. Let's just remember the basics."
